Lakes Entrance, Melbourne

Lakes Entrance
After the thrills and chills of the alpine area we were on the road for Victoria and in particular Lakes Entrance where Jim’s mum Ursula lives. We had a quiet four days catching up on some chores and domestic duties. Jim was quickly put to work painting parts of the house and pruning some trees.
Will, Kurt and Jordy caught up with a bit of schoolwork inbetween trips to the local skatepark for some scootering and BMX riding. The Boys also loved Ursies pets that included Beau the 16yo Belgian barge dog, Ooshie the cat and Henry the 42 yo sulphur crested cockatoo who arrived at the Morcoms on Christmas Day 1970. The cat was a favourite but as cats do she didn’t seem to care whilst Henry was bombarded with talk. Jordy tried to teach him ‘arrivaderci’, goodbye in Italian and he was calling out ‘Kurt,’ by the end of our stay.

Whilst in Lakes we also caught with Paul and Karen from Tassie again as well as Glen and Gwen Dyer who we first met at Barn Hill Station near Broome. On our way to Melbourne we spent the night with Kate and Casey McDonald and their boys Lachlan, Gus and Billy who we spent 5 fun days with at Mission Beach in September. The kids had a ball catching up with each other and very quickly were running amok on their 5 acre property in Upper Beaconsfield.

Arriving in Melbourne we parked the van at Nikki and Dave Boels place in Warrandyte. Unfortunately they were not well so we quickly moved onto Jim’s sister Janes’ house in Camberwell for a few days. Melbourne was as usual, busy. We caught up with the extended Morcom family at Uncle Kevins house twice as well as going into the city to see the Myer windows and going to the MCG to do a tour and visit the Australian Sports Museum also at the MCG. A highlight was a visit to Bounceinc.com.au a trampolining centre in Malvern where the kids bounced their heads off for an hour at the most fun place to be at. Will and Kurt loved the foam pits where they disappeared after several bunces and Jordy worked hard to master bouncing off  your back onto a wall and continuing. Melbourne as always is hectic and good fun with lots of good times catching up with family and friends.
Next stop Apollo Bay, uh, oh!
